Halloween

Well Halloween was definitely more toned down this year than normal. I took some pictures of carving the pumpkins but I think we deleted some by accident. I did get some pictures of the finished products.

This is Grandpa's. We named it Shrek but you can't really tell in this picture. It has ears.

Alex carved this one with Grandpa's help. It says "Tiny Towers" which is the name of a game he loves on his Ipod.

This is Connor's. It's the Mac Apple. He really wants an I phone :)

Alex and his friend Trick or treated together. They were reggae/hippy guys. They had cool sunglasses too.

We had a different Halloween. It's usually a big deal and we all go together. This year Alex went with his friend and Connor went with his. Connor didn't really dress up. He did go to the Dollar Tree the night before Halloween and got a pirate hat (that was way too small by the way) a toy shield and toy sword. Don't ask me what he was thinking, haha He roamed our old neighborhood with friends and had a fun time meeting up with other kids he knew from school. I think this may have been our last Trick or Treating Halloween :(

Halloween Part 3... Pumpkin Carving!

We always enjoy carving our pumpkins. It's one of our favorite traditions. I almost titled this post "Pumpkin carving gone wild" because well it got a little wild. It all started out fine but then Alex started having his yearly gagging problem. He loves the act of cleaning out and carving his own pumpkin but the texture and smell get to him. He gags and digs, takes a breath, scoops some more, gags.. and on and on it goes. He hangs in there though and gets it done. Connor thinks it's funny and decided to torture his brother in various ways. One being scooping out "pumpkin guts" and dangling them in front of Alex. It ended up in a pumpkin gut throwing fight.

Then out came the power tools. Living with Grandpa, you have all kinds of cool tools at your disposal. It wasn't quite the Norman Rockwell family jack o lantern carving experience I may have imagined it would be but that is the joys of boys and I wouldn't trade it for anything.... well maybe... nah.

"F" is for Frolicking in Fall leaves

I am participating in Jenny Matlock's Alphabe Thursday.

Last weekend the boys decided to rake some leaves..... they had the best time raking leaves into a big pile and then skakeboarding through the pile.... then rollerblading... then jumping. They would rake a big pile and then scatter it as they "rode" through it. Then they would start all over again, raking (actually using a big brush broom) them all into a big pile and starting all over again. The best part was seeing them work together. Skylar and Max loved it, they just couldn't stay away.

Botanic Gardens

We visited the Botanical Gardens a couple of weeks ago with some friends and I've been using some of the pictures on Wordless Wednesdays so I thought I would go ahead and share the rest. It was free day so a little crowded but not bad once we found parking. It was a beautiful fall day.

Echo Lake

Weekend before last we took a drive up to Echo Lake. I wanted to see the fall colors. The trees were beautiful on the way up. We took a picnic lunch and walked around the lake. It was a beautiful fall day here in Colorado!

Miller Farms

Yesterday was the boys first day off track. We decided to drive out to Miller Farms. It's a big farm about 45 minutes north of where we live. It was a beautiful warm sunny fall day. They have some fun activities but the main attraction is the Tractor/hay rack ride through the different crops. You get to get out at each stop and pick vegetables. We gathered corn, potatoes, onions, gourds..etc. They also had lots of pumpkins to choose from. Connor and I had visited there with his fourth grade class and wanted to share it with Alex and Dad. We had a fun day!
