The pool opened on Friday and of course Alex was dying to get down there. Luckily it's heated because even though it's been pleasant weather wise, it hasn't been THAT warm. So Connor, Alex and I headed down Friday evening. Mark stopped by on his walk with the dogs.
As big brothers will do... Connor was teasing Alex. Everytime Alex would get a noodle, he would snatch it. I of course hollered at him a couple of times to "give Alex back his noodle"!! Alex started out frustrated but then he started giggling in between shouts of "Connor!!!" "Give me back my noodles!". Before we knew it the absurdity of Connor having all those noodles struck us all funny.............. we couldn't help ourselves, we were all cracking up.
You can see why....

Alex Swimming at Grandma's hotel
Grandma came for Connor's birthday and Alex spent the night with her a couple of nights at the hotel. He loved the hotel swimming pool! As most of you know Alex is a fish and would live in the water if her could..pretty much.
Here are some pictures Grandma Susie took.
Thank you Grandma for letting Alex stay with you. From what I heard you had a great slumber party.. enjoying the breakfast buffet, watching movies and eating popcorn, and of course swimming.

Day 15; At the Suites; The pool is open!!!
The pool is open!! Alex has been looking forward to the pool opening since the day we got here. It was supposed to open Memorial Day weekend but they discovered a crack. They have been working on it every day. I went out yesterday morning to walk the dogs and glanced over at the pool. It was filled with water! I thought well, it will need to sit with the chemicals for a couple of days but at least that's progress. I came back to the room and told the boys. Alex immediately took off for the front desk (he's gotten to know the employees here very well). He came back with a big smile and said it will be opening in a couple of hours.
It was a perfect day for swimming and the water was just right. The pool is heated. I remember as a kid being so excited for the first day of summer when the public pool opened. The water was so frigid though. It hadn't had time to warm up with the warm Kansas sun. We didn't care though, we were so happy to jump right in! I remember many days of walking 8-9 blocks to the swimming pool with my brother and then staying all day and walking all the way home tired and hungry. Those were the days.
I took a few pictures of the boys frolicking....

More Summer fun... Water World
We are having a great time with Caitlyn. Seems we've been on the go a lot but having fun. We went to Water World today for the first time. I didn't get very many pictures because I was too busy having fun going down the water slides....... I'm probably going to be sore tomorrow but it was worth it. The kids loved all the rides and especially liked the wave pool. Here are a few pics I managed to get.

Summer fun...
We have been staying busy. Mark's birthday was yesterday. We celebrated Sunday night with a spaghetti & meatball dinner. Then yesterday we went motorcycling. Mark taught Caitlyn how to ride. She already kind of knew but he taught her how to shift. She did great. She is a really fast learner. After riding we did a little hiking. Today we went to Pirates Cove for several hours. We are all tired tonight!

It's Friday...
We've had a busy couple of days. Caitlyn made it in yesterday afternoon...yeah. For those of you that don't know Caitlyn is our niece. She had a long ride. She and the boys have been going non-stop ever since. They are really enjoying each other. Caitlyn lives in Houston so we don't get to see her very often. It's fun to watch how she and the boys pick up just where they left off. Not like they haven't seen each other in a year. We went to the aquarium (yes again) today. They had a good time.
Last night I was at Alex's baseball practice when I got a call from Mark. His question was "Don't worry but I was wondering what our emergency room deductible is"? He had cut his hand pretty bad working on the Go-cart. We all met up at the emergency room. He ended up with 5 stitches.. It was pretty deep. It's a little sore today but not too bad.
We got a new "Surfing" slip and slide. It came with a DVD that showed these surfer "dudes" doing all kinds of neat tricks on it. It didn't quite work as well as shown on the DVD. Imagine that! haha They still had fun.

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2 "The Sternberg Museum"
We woke up Friday morning and had breakfast at the hotel... they had a really nice breakfast buffet. It was $7.50 for adults and free for kids! I know we've paid at least double that before and it wasn't any better...plus friendly service. I do miss that about smaller towns. We packed up and went to the museum. We took our time (it wasn't crowded). There was a new dinosaur exhibit they were working on and it was to open the next day. The lady working on it was really nice and said if we were careful she would give us a quick tour. She was an Art major at the college there and they hired her to do the exhibit. She didn't know a lot about dinosaurs but was learning. Anyway Connor was able to answer some questions for her, like "would these dinosaurs be together? Would this one be hunting this one?? I guess she had set some up wrong and when the curator came along she would have to correct it. She just had a few dinosaur books to go by. Looked like a hard job to me. Anyway we enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about Mr. Sternberg who discovered a lot of the fossils that were in the museum. He found a lot of them right in that area around Hays, KS. Connor wasn't disappointed.

Campbell Weekend Update...
It's Sunday night. I just finished reading with Alex. (warning...It's Mommy brag time) He has improved by leaps and bounds this year. I have to credit his teacher because I haven't been reading with him on a regular basis (bad mommy). I got some books at the library today and he picked a Magic Tree house book. I thought it would be too hard for him but he did really well.
Connor needed a book for a book report. He likes a series called "National Park Mysteries". I picked a few for him to choose from. He chose one that takes place in Glacier Natl Park. I think that's in Montana and maybe part of Canada. Anyway he seems excited about it..which is a good thing because he's not into reading fiction very much.
Saturday the boys had 2 football games a piece. Connor's first was a nail biter (if I were one of those moms..which I am, haha) At half time neither team had scored. Then the other team scored. Right after that, Connor ran for a "TOUCHDOWN"! Then with 1 minute to go Connor's team caught an interception and ran it in to win the game. In Con's second game his team was winning until the 2nd half. The other team beat them by 4 pts.
Alex's first game was against a team where the boys where quite a bit bigger and looked older than Alex's team (I think there were some organizational problems this year). Alex was telling everyone that the kids they played against were "like 13 yr olds". Probably more like 9 or 10 but I'm sure they looked that old to Alex. Alex was running with the ball and told me later "Mom, all I could see were legs" haha. They were quite a bit taller than Alex. Alex did have a good run and an interception in his second game. Their team hasn't won a game this year but they've had fun..
Mark made sugar cookies today and the boys and I got into a little frosting fight while decorating them. I think Mark started it... or maybe I did. I can't remember..haha Mark grabbed the camera.

We also ended up going to the rec center to swim Friday night. After Alex took his bath he really wanted to go swimming. I snapped a few pictures.
