Oh Noodles!!!

The pool opened on Friday and of course Alex was dying to get down there. Luckily it's heated because even though it's been pleasant weather wise, it hasn't been THAT warm. So Connor, Alex and I headed down Friday evening. Mark stopped by on his walk with the dogs.

As big brothers will do... Connor was teasing Alex. Everytime Alex would get a noodle, he would snatch it. I of course hollered at him  a couple of times to "give Alex back his noodle"!! Alex started out frustrated but then he started giggling in between shouts of "Connor!!!" "Give me back my noodles!". Before we knew it the absurdity of Connor having all those noodles struck us all funny.............. we couldn't help ourselves, we were all cracking up.

You can see why....

A few scenic pictures....

I took a few pictures a couple of weeks ago. We were up above Idaho Springs visiting a friend. It was such pretty scenery I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures.

A trip to the Air Force Academy

I'm catching up on some of our summer doings..... a few weeks ago when we were staying at the hotel we decided to take a trip down to the Air Force Academy. It's only about 45 minutes from us and we had never been.

The chapel was my favorite part, it's in the background

Inside the chapel..isn't the glass beautiful?

Alex baseball summer 2010

Alex had a great time with baseball this summer. He got the opportunity to pitch a few games and he loved it. He has quite a fast ball. He also was an awesome first baseman. Some games he got so many kids out I started to feel bad..haha (guess I'm not really cut out for sports). His team was the Diamondbacks and Mark got to be assistant coach again. Connor helped out a lot and had the unofficial title of "assistant to the assistant coach". (For those of you who watch the office you get this little joke).

Day 15; At the Suites; The pool is open!!!

The pool is open!! Alex has been looking forward to the pool opening since the day we got here. It was supposed to open Memorial Day weekend but they discovered a crack. They have been working on it every day. I went out yesterday morning to walk the dogs and glanced over at the pool. It was filled with water! I thought well, it will need to sit with the chemicals for a couple of days but at least that's progress. I came back to the room and told the boys. Alex immediately took off for the front desk (he's gotten to know the employees here very well). He came back with a big smile and said it will be opening in a couple of hours.

It was a perfect day for swimming and the water was just right. The pool is heated. I remember as a kid being so excited for the first day of summer when the public pool opened. The water was so frigid though. It hadn't had time to warm up with the warm Kansas sun. We didn't care though, we were so happy to jump right in! I remember many days of walking 8-9 blocks to the swimming pool with my brother and then staying all day and walking all the way home tired and hungry. Those were the days.

I took a few pictures of the boys frolicking....

Alex's last baseball game of the season

Alex finished up his last game of baseball last night. I was kind of sad for it to end. It's been a fun season. He loved playing first base and loved spending time with his friend Alex who he doesn't get to see very often. Our friend Chad coached and Mark assisted. It was fun for Alex to get to have his dad coach.

Two weeks of summer fun...

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind. I think last year when Caitlyn came to visit for 3 wks we called it Turbo Summer! Well that fits this year too. Although I don't think I took as many pictures. I was enjoying each moment.

I'm going to post a little at a time to really savor each and every moment.

One of the highlights was watching our little neice Lila playing in our little wading pool (actually bought it for the puppies but don't tell anyone.) Lila has such an adventurous spirit! I didn't know her daddy as a child but I did know her momma and I can tell you she could have got some of it from her. Even though she is the spittin' image of her Daddy! (Tam, I do see you too.)

Fun at the water park

We are enjoying Caitlyn's visit. We have been on the go a lot. One day last week we spent the day at Pirates Cove. (a water park). We made it 4 hours before the afternoon showers we've been having rolled in.

Summer has begun at our house

Summer schedule so far...

Tuesday: The boys finished up school. We really had a great year. Both had great teachers and the year went by without a hitch. Phew!

Wednesday am: Caitlyn arrived early and the boys, I and Grandpa had fun going to the airport to pick her up.

Wednesday pm: JONAS BROTHERS CONCERT! It was a great concert. The kids were up on their feet through the entire thing. Jordan Sparks opened for them. She's a great performer. Our friends invited us and it was a blast! I took some pictures with my phone but they didn't turn out very good.

Alex, Caitlyn and Connor as the concert is just beginning
Connor, Hailey and Lauren goofing around
