Baseball and the Museum...

I haven't had a chance to get many pictures of Connor playing baseball (it's kind of embarassing at his age). I've been giving my camera a little break. I think the kids were getting a little tired of all the pictures I was taking and I've just been enjoying the summer and not worrying too much about pictures. That is why you haven't seen many posts lately. But not for long, summer is winding down and I'm starting to miss my little blog and reading all my favorite blogs. I hope to get some pictures of Connor playing before he's completely done with baseball for the season.

He has had a pretty good season. It was his first time playing kid pitch and some of the games got a little long and boring, but his last game was a lot of fun. Thier team was missing a couple of players and the coach asked if Alex wanted to play. I thought he was joking and I think he sort of was but when we showed up for the game he said Alex could play. Keep in mind Alex is 8yrs old in 3rd grade and these kids are 6th thru 8th grade. Alex was so excited but unfortunately we weren't really prepared.. Alex was wearing a pair of slip on shoes with no socks..... I rushed home to get his cleats and socks. He called me from Mark's cell phone twice in the 15 minutes it took me to get home and back to the field. I was pretty impressed with the time I made but would you believe no one even noticed? Nope. No "wow that was fast Mom, thank you so much!!" I thought for sure Mark would be impressed but he didn't even notice.. really took the wind out of my sails. (Alex was really appreciative though and once I pointed out to Mark how fast I made it he assured me he was duly impressed..haha).

Alex did really well, he made 2 hits and was walked once when he got hit with the ball! He was on cloud nine. Connor also got to have his friend Josh play with him which was a lot of fun for both of them I think. Josh plays competitively so this was small potatoes for him but it was still fun for him too I think.

Mark had the day off today and he suggested we go to the Denver Museum. They have a new exhibit called Exhibition Health. It was a pretty neat exhibit. We had fun with it. We also visited the Imax and a few other exhibits.

Connor testing his... I can't remember what this one was, we kind of buzzed by it. I think it was something to do with muscles and nerves.

They also had this aging machine. It takes your picture and then shows you what you would look like up to 70yrs old. When Alex's was going thru the process, he said loudly "I LOOK LIKE YOU DAD!!". That got quite a laugh from the line of people.

Alex's last baseball game of the season

Alex finished up his last game of baseball last night. I was kind of sad for it to end. It's been a fun season. He loved playing first base and loved spending time with his friend Alex who he doesn't get to see very often. Our friend Chad coached and Mark assisted. It was fun for Alex to get to have his dad coach.

Two weeks of summer fun...

The past two weeks have been a whirlwind. I think last year when Caitlyn came to visit for 3 wks we called it Turbo Summer! Well that fits this year too. Although I don't think I took as many pictures. I was enjoying each moment.

I'm going to post a little at a time to really savor each and every moment.

One of the highlights was watching our little neice Lila playing in our little wading pool (actually bought it for the puppies but don't tell anyone.) Lila has such an adventurous spirit! I didn't know her daddy as a child but I did know her momma and I can tell you she could have got some of it from her. Even though she is the spittin' image of her Daddy! (Tam, I do see you too.)
