Almost Wordless Wednesday

It's kind of hard to tell from these pictures but this was on Mother's day and it was a very warm day. Mark rigged a hose in the tree to spray down to cool off the patio. Alex (our water boy) is standing under it getting soaked... and lovin' every minute of it.

Thoroughly Modern Millie Junior

Connor was in his middle school musical a couple of weeks ago. He did a great job. It wasn't easy to get pictures but we did manage to get a few. He was in quite a few other scenes but we weren't able to get a picture.

Of course we have to give credit where credit is due.. Kudos to Connor's first acting coach. The one and only Miss Becky Monteith, Connor's 3rd grade teacher and our dear friend.. who has been so brave in her battle against breast cancer which she most recently won!! Yay for Becky and Connor!

                                 Standing next to "Millie"
Fiddling with his tie was something he just added for effect or is it affect? Anyway I think he was kind of a body guard or something for Millie in this scene.

This was his group taking a bow.. really didn't turn out well.

By the way, anyone notice how handsome Connor is with his new short haircut??

"D" is for Double Chocolaty Chip!

This was going to be my "D" post for Alphabe Thursday but I didn't get linked in time. Blogger was having problems when I wrote it and then I forgot to go back and link... Sorry Ms. Jenny, my assignment is late!

Oh Well, here it is anyway.

For Mother's Day, Alex wrote this for me.

This is what it says..

One Special Moment

One special moment is when you wake me up in the morning :(. Then you tell me to get in the shower :(. When I get out you say, "It is Starbucks day" :). After I eat breakfast and we get in the car and talk about what we are going to get I say "I want the Double chocolaty chip. I love the Double chocolaty chip". After we pull out of the hot garage we head to Starbucks. When we order I get the cold Double chocolaty chip :). I sip it down then you drop me off at student council. That is a special moment :).

Alex has Student Council once or twice a month. It's always on a Thursday which happens to be my day off :) So on those days Alex goes into school early. We drop Connor off and still have a little time before Alex has to be at school so we decided one day to go to Starbucks to kill time. It then became our little tradition. We have had some great one on one time and some really good conversations. I was happy to see that these times are as special to Alex as they have been to me!

We never kept it a secret but apparently Connor didn't know about our little Starbucks dates. I guess I will have to come up with something for he and I. I think he misses a lot of what's going on between having his Ipod earbuds in or texting :) Teenagers! haha Maybe now he will be a little more engaged, you think??

"C" is for Condiments

Today I am participating in Jenny Matlocks Alphabe Thursday

"C" is for Condiments

Not to sound too Andy Rooneyish but..

Have you ever noticed how strongly convicted we are in our preference for which condiments we do and do not like?

For example, I love Mayo. OHHH that reminds me "Happy Cinco de "Mayo" day ;) just a little joke, I know it was a bad one but anyway... I actually stole that one from a joke I read. Nothing political.. just a little joke.

Where was I??

Oh yes, I LOVE Mayo. I love it on hamburgers, sandwiches, even hot dogs sometimes. I've also been known to dip a fry or two in it from time to time.

Susie (my MIL) really hates mayo, and she is very "passionate" in her conviction of hating mayo.

I also like mustard on just about anything, but not the fancy stuff. Just plain ole yellow mustard will do fine for me.

Mark (my hubby) has always been a mustard guy. He likes it on just about everything. He used to love to dip his Lays potato chips in it (still does once in a while).

I do not care much for Ketchup except to dip fries in. I will tolerate it on a Wendy's single (with cheese of course) because I never think to ask for no Ketchup so I've just learned to like it on those occasions.

Connor and Alex have always preferred mustard on everything for the most part, although just a few months ago Connor requested Ketchup on his hot dog and when I acted surprised he kind of insinuated that he had been eating Ketchup on his hot dogs for a long time.. Okay, I know I'm a full time working Mom now but how did I miss that?

Alex still pretty much sticks with mustard. Neither of the kids really cares to dip their fries in Ketchup which has always astounded me. How can you like Ketchup but not want to dip a fry in it??

Is Relish a condiment?? Relish is something that Mark and I never cared for but some of our parents and grandparents LOVE it. In my condiment experience I find that people either love or hate relish. There really is no in between with this particular condiment.

I could go on and on but do you see what I mean?? We are SOOOO passionate about our condiments.

What kind of condiment person are you?? Mustard? Ketchup? Mayo? Oh.. and we could go further, if you like Mayo, do you prefer Regular Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip?? My mom always bought Miracle Whip. I remember her treating it like it was such a luxury, which it was!

So which is it for you??? Mustard, Ketchup, Mayo??  Have you ever mixed the 3... I know, I know, it doesn't sound good but don't knock in until you've tried it, ;)

Custom Longboard

The boys enjoy Longboarding. For those of you who don't know, basically it's just an extra long skateboard but whatever you do DO NOT call it a skateboard. I get corrected quite often.

They come in all colors and designs. Alex's was yellow and looked like this...

I'm not sure how it came up but Alex wanted a new design. He thought it would be cool to have a Skate Longboard that looked like Eddie Van Halen's guitar.

So Mark got to work.. I wish I would have captured some pictures of the process.. sanding, painting, taping, more painting..etc.

Here is a picture of it almost completed.

And here is the finished product! Alex loves it!
