Dinosaur Ridge - The Dinosaur Highway

On Sunday we took a drive up to "the Dinosaur highway" in Morrison with our friends, The Changs and did a little hiking on Dinosaur Ridge and of course visited the gift shop. It was a very pretty spring day. A little windy but pretty. It is one of the boys (especially Connor's) favorite places to go. We have been there many times but they still love it. It was fun to have the Changs along.

Summer fun...

We have been staying busy. Mark's birthday was yesterday. We celebrated Sunday night with a spaghetti & meatball dinner. Then yesterday we went motorcycling. Mark taught Caitlyn how to ride. She already kind of knew but he taught her how to shift. She did great. She is a really fast learner. After riding we did a little hiking. Today we went to Pirates Cove for several hours. We are all tired tonight!

busy weekend...

Wow, finally a moment to catch our breath. It's been a busy weekend and it's only Saturday! Yesterday Connor and Alex both had football practice. Then off to our schools "Spring Fling". It was at South Suburban Family sports center. They have laser tag, bumper cars a climbing wall and more. The boys had a great time but we were there until after 9:00, then Alex's friend came home with us for an unplanned sleepover. Then up this morning for another FB practice at 9:00 and games at 10:00.

After the games we came back home for a little while then I took Alex and his friend to a birthday party. I watched them swim for a couple of hours and then drove them to the birthday boys house for a sleepover. They were having 7 boys over... I feel for them!

While we were at the party Mark took Connor to Dinosaur Ridge. They had a nice hike, found some nice rocks and got a lot of sun. Connor was very happy. He added the rocks to his museum collection.

I hope we all get a good nights sleep tonight... I doubt Alex will. He will probably be a bear tomorrow but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Sunday,March 2nd, 2008

Well it's cold and snowy here today. Yesterday it was 70 and sunny. We probably have at least 4 inches of snow.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, felt like Spring had arrived. After much persuading by Connor we drove up to Dinosaur Ridge. It's a place in Morrison, not very far from us. It's part of the Morrison formation. There are visable dinosaur and plant fossils in the rocks. there are also real imprints of dinosaur tracks. We hiked up a trail and explored a little. It was nice to be outside getting fresh air.

A couple of weeks ago the boys had a science fair at their school. Alex's was a group project. He did a great job explaining it but I can't remember now what it was exactly (being the scientific person I am..haha) It was something to do with an egg and vinegar and the shell disolving. Connor did his project on, you'll never quess.............Dinosaurs! It was titled "The Cretaceous period....the deadliest time of all". He worked hard on it but enjoyed presenting it. It was easy for him to present because he could talk about prehistoric stuff 24 hours a day.
