He has had a pretty good season. It was his first time playing kid pitch and some of the games got a little long and boring, but his last game was a lot of fun. Thier team was missing a couple of players and the coach asked if Alex wanted to play. I thought he was joking and I think he sort of was but when we showed up for the game he said Alex could play. Keep in mind Alex is 8yrs old in 3rd grade and these kids are 6th thru 8th grade. Alex was so excited but unfortunately we weren't really prepared.. Alex was wearing a pair of slip on shoes with no socks..... I rushed home to get his cleats and socks. He called me from Mark's cell phone twice in the 15 minutes it took me to get home and back to the field. I was pretty impressed with the time I made but would you believe no one even noticed? Nope. No "wow that was fast Mom, thank you so much!!" I thought for sure Mark would be impressed but he didn't even notice.. really took the wind out of my sails. (Alex was really appreciative though and once I pointed out to Mark how fast I made it he assured me he was duly impressed..haha).
Alex did really well, he made 2 hits and was walked once when he got hit with the ball! He was on cloud nine. Connor also got to have his friend Josh play with him which was a lot of fun for both of them I think. Josh plays competitively so this was small potatoes for him but it was still fun for him too I think.
Mark had the day off today and he suggested we go to the Denver Museum. They have a new exhibit called Exhibition Health. It was a pretty neat exhibit. We had fun with it. We also visited the Imax and a few other exhibits.
Having a drink and a little rest at the TREX cafe
Alex testing his heart rate in Expedition health...
Connor testing his... I can't remember what this one was, we kind of buzzed by it. I think it was something to do with muscles and nerves.
They also had this aging machine. It takes your picture and then shows you what you would look like up to 70yrs old. When Alex's was going thru the process, he said loudly "I LOOK LIKE YOU DAD!!". That got quite a laugh from the line of people.
Alex at 70...
Connor at 70..

That exhibit is right up my alley!
I would have avoided the "time" machine myself..would give me nightmares..lol
Oh Bonnie, I think you are supermom......rushing home for those cleats...lol, I'd have done it too.
Good to see you blog, and yes I've been more absent than not, and I'm missing writing and reading too.
School starts here 8/10 and 8/17 for my kids.
oo how fun for Alex to get to play as well! Sounds like a fun way to end the season.. okay that aging thing looks creepy.. I so would not want to know what I would look like! Looks like you guys had a great trip out though :-)
It seems like when moms come through, people sometimes don't notice because everything is in order...and we make it look SO easy.
The only time they realize how much we do is when we aren't doing it. Then things don't go as smoothly and people get upset.
That's why it's important for us to pat ourselves on the back or ask for a pat when we need one.
Way to go, Bonnie!
